Italian Meatball Sub Recipe 🍴🍞🍅
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef 🐄
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs 🍞
- 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese 🧀
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley 🌿
- 1/4 cup milk 🥛
- 1 egg 🥚
- 2 cloves garlic, minced 🧄
- 1 tsp dried oregano 🌿
- 1 tsp salt 🧂
- 1/2 tsp black pepper 🌶️
- 4 large sub rolls 🥖
- 1 cup marinara sauce 🍅
- 4 slices provolone cheese 🧀
Directions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, breadcrumbs, parmesan cheese, parsley, milk, egg, garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper until well combined.
- Form the mixture into 2-inch meatballs and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake the meatballs for 18-20 minutes or until cooked through.
- While the meatballs are baking, heat the marinara sauce in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Cut the sub rolls in half lengthwise and place them on a baking sheet.
- Once the meatballs are cooked, remove them from the oven and increase the oven temperature to 425°F (220°C).
- Spoon the warm marinara sauce over the sub rolls evenly.
- Place the meatballs on top of the sauce and top them with a slice of provolone cheese each.
- Bake the subs in the preheated oven for 5-7 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
