Homemade hummus recipe
🍴 Perfect as a party snack or as a healthy dip, this homemade hummus recipe will leave you wanting more.
Ingredients:
- 1 can of chickpeas (15 oz)
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 3 tablespoons of tahini paste
- 3 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon of ground cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 3-4 tablespoons of cold water
- 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
- A pinch of paprika (optional)
Directions:
- Drain and rinse the chickpeas in a colander. Keep a few chickpeas aside for garnish.
- In a food processor or blender, combine the chickpeas, minced garlic, tahini paste, fresh lemon juice, cumin, and salt.
- Process until the mixture is smooth, stopping to scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed.
- While the processor is running, slowly pour in the cold water until you reach your desired consistency.
- Transfer the hummus to a bowl and swirl the surface with the back of a spoon.
- Drizzle the extra virgin olive oil over the top, and sprinkle with paprika and reserved chickpeas for garnish.
- Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.
- Enjoy with pita bread, crackers, cut vegetables, or as a spread on sandwiches.
